MARRIAGE: RULES FOR HAPPY MARRIAGE (3)-SECRETS OF GREAT MARRIAGE
COMMUNICATION-BE
OPEN TO YOUR PARTNER
The greatest relationships
take a great deal of work; they don’t just happen, or maintain themselves. They
thrive only when two people make an effort and take the risk of sharing what it
is that’s going on in their heads and hearts. Keep in mind that every couple
has ups and downs, every couple argues, and that’s the way it should be –
you’re a partnership, and partnerships can’t function without regular communication
and compromise. When you don’t talk it out, there’s a lot of important stuff that
ends up NOT getting said.
There is
no room for secrets in marriage. Secrets corrode trust. Secrets destroy marriages.
Every secret that you keep from your spouse, regardless of how small it is, is
taking away from your marriage. Remember nothing stays secret. The same Devil who
assures you that you’ll never be caught is the same Devil who will blow the
whistle on you.
Your
spouse shouldn't have to become a detective, investigator or secret
service agent. Give your spouse open access to your
entire personal life. Don’t take your spouse’s trust for granted.
Successful marriages are built on trust. It takes years to build trust; it
takes a single secret to destroy it; and it takes sincere apologies and a whole
life time of proven honest living to restore and repair it. Respect your spouse
and honor your commitment. Live an honorable, open and honest life ever
dreamed. “Love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8
